Course Information:
The race begins winding through the sandy flats on the east end of town. You will run
the hogback and pass through the hidden Yucca valley to begin the slow climb to
the east, through Owl Canyon (what a hoot!),
passed the duckponds, across limestone outcroppings, up Devil's Staircase, and finally the
switchbacks to the top of Pilot Hill. Then its ankle-busting and full speed ahead for the
downhill descent! The trail is mostly "two-track" on seldom used jeep roads across mostly
(85%) private land.
Aid Stations:
A total of 3 aid stations (two of which will be passed both on the way up and down) with
one at the top. Over the 15.5 mile course you can expect an aid station every 2.5 to 3 miles.
Aid Stations will be stocked with water, Gatoraide, gauze, and band-aids.
Weather:
Who knows...its Wyoming, so maybe snow, maybe 80 degrees, but at 8:00 in the morning
the wind should be blowing less the 40 mph.
Age Groups and Awards:
Awards to the top three male and female runners in three age categories (0-34, 35-49, 50 and
over). Top male and female runners get crowned King (and Queen) of the Hill!
Course Map and Profile:
Coming soon...for now suffice to say it goes up about 1500 ft, then comes down about 1500 ft.
Race History:
Jeff French, Race Director, discusses some of the history behind the "oldest footrace in Wyoming".
